This melancholy is perfectly illustrated by debut single ‘Crowd’. It stems from the days you don’t feel your best, the times when the nights never seem to end and the daily worries become more than just a brief synapse connection. With its ghostly textures, sparse electronics and sincere lyrics, ‘Crowd’ perfectly describes the sense of confusion and loss generated from when you lose touch with someone you were once close to; how people you once knew can turn back into strangers. As Phillip himself admits; “even though right now I’m feeling great, it’s not possible to feel great all the time - which is totally fine - and this track is from a day where I wasn’t. The track isn’t about something specific that I myself have experienced, but the feeling behind the song is something every one of us is familiar with.”
